MY DINER NETWORK SMARTPHONE APP TO HELP FOOD LOVERS FIND RESTAURANTS IN MALAYSIA

Here’s something for the smartphone-totting foodie – the ultimate app that will help you find the best places to eat, browse menus and find latest promotions and contact information of restaurants. The proudly Malaysian-made app is called My Diner Network, a brainchild of ITGeeks Studio, an up-and-coming IT solutions company based in the Klang Valley.

The media launch of My Diner Network was held at La Creperie de Caroline in Telawi Street, Bangsar, one of the participating restaurants in the My Diner Network platform.

Founder and creator of My Diner Network, Sathish Krishnan, he himself a food lover said, “Food is something that brings people together and Malaysia is well known worldwide for its passionate gastronomes. We’ve thoughtfully crafted My Diner Network to be an application that will not only alert our customers to promotions and menu updates, but simplify the entire ‘where shall we eat’ process. It’s a really comprehensive system, because it gives a void to restaurateurs and creates a directory that caters to an entire community of food enthusiasts.”

With the mobile web growing eight times faster than the World Wide Web did in the 90s, it was only natural that the My Diner Network is mobile-focused. In Malaysia, mobile phone penetration is over 130% and rapidly growing, with more than half of the population owning a smartphone. According to Google, more than 30% of all mobile searches in 2011 were for local restaurants.

My Diner Network answers the question we ask ourselves often: “Where shall we eat?” There is a plethora of websites and blogs with food reviews and all-encompassing geo-location based apps out there like Foursquare, no doubt. However, My Diner Network aims to fill the void where a focused, simple yet comprehensive solution to finding food is concerned.

In a nutshell, My Diner Network helps you locate places to eat based on cuisine, ‘what’s hot’, pork-free/halal/vegetarian, new openings, latest promotions and ‘what’s nearby’ quickly and easily. The app is also built-in with a Push Notification System where participating restaurants can push marketing initiatives to users’ mobiles, keeping users updated on the latest promotions and news.

Speed is an important variable in the overall user experience, and thus the app features encrypted and compressed code, including a pre-loading feature to give almost instantaneous results.

For F&B establishments, My Diner Network can be seen as an effective marketing and sales channel that also allows for potential interactive engagement with customers. The app can also collect feedback from users via reviews and comments, enabling restaurants to improve services. Additionally, analytical data detailing customer visits and engagement are made available to participating restaurants.

My Diner Network currently has fifty participating restaurants including the Gastrodome group which includes La Bodega and The Pressroom, and has targeted a minimum of 1,500 restaurants within a year. The business model employed by My Diner Network is subscription-based.

The My Diner Network app can be downloaded free from Google Play and an iOS 7-optimised version will be available from the Apple App Store from 16 October 2013.

A workshop on Website Administration – Content Development and Publishing was successfully organized by Rangkaian Minang NS.

The workshop was held at Wisma Negeri, Negeri Sembilan from 10 to 13 September 2012.

The objective of this workshop was to get the webmasters from 18 Negeri Sembilan state government agencies to familiarize themselves with the features of new version of Joomla 2.5 (Content Management System) and various other components to develop their respective agencies web portals. The workshop also exposed the webmasters to create and maintain a standardized set of content elements that are used throughout the site.

The participants were also briefed on the requirement for MDEC 5 STAR rating.

Lorem Ipsum adalah contoh teks atau dummy dalam industri percetakan dan penataan huruf atau typesetting. Lorem Ipsum telah menjadi standar contoh teks sejak tahun 1500an, saat seorang tukang cetak yang tidak dikenal mengambil sebuah kumpulan teks dan mengacaknya untuk menjadi sebuah buku contoh huruf. Ia tidak hanya bertahan selama 5 abad, tapi juga telah beralih ke penataan huruf elektronik, tanpa ada perubahan apapun. Ia mulai dipopulerkan pada tahun 1960 dengan diluncurkannya lembaran-lembaran Letraset yang menggunakan kalimat-kalimat dari Lorem Ipsum, dan seiring munculnya perangkat lunak Desktop Publishing seperti Aldus PageMaker juga memiliki versi Lorem Ipsum.

Mengapa kita menggunakannya?

Sudah merupakan fakta bahwa seorang pembaca akan terpengaruh oleh isi tulisan dari sebuah halaman saat ia melihat tata letaknya. Maksud penggunaan Lorem Ipsum adalah karena ia kurang lebih memiliki penyebaran huruf yang normal, ketimbang menggunakan kalimat seperti "Bagian isi disini, bagian isi disini", sehingga ia seolah menjadi naskah Inggris yang bisa dibaca. Banyak paket Desktop Publishing dan editor situs web yang kini menggunakan Lorem Ipsum sebagai contoh teks. Karenanya pencarian terhadap kalimat "Lorem Ipsum" akan berujung pada banyak situs web yang masih dalam tahap pengembangan. Berbagai versi juga telah berubah dari tahun ke tahun, kadang karena tidak sengaja, kadang karena disengaja (misalnya karena dimasukkan unsur humor atau semacamnya)

Dari mana asalnya?

Tidak seperti anggapan banyak orang, Lorem Ipsum bukanlah teks-teks yang diacak. Ia berakar dari sebuah naskah sastra latin klasik dari era 45 sebelum masehi, hingga bisa dipastikan usianya telah mencapai lebih dari 2000 tahun. Richard McClintock, seorang professor Bahasa Latin dari Hampden-Sidney College di Virginia, mencoba mencari makna salah satu kata latin yang dianggap paling tidak jelas, yakni consectetur, yang diambil dari salah satu bagian Lorem Ipsum. Setelah ia mencari maknanya di di literatur klasik, ia mendapatkan sebuah sumber yang tidak bisa diragukan. Lorem Ipsum berasal dari bagian 1.10.32 dan 1.10.33 dari naskah "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (Sisi Ekstrim dari Kebaikan dan Kejahatan) karya Cicero, yang ditulis pada tahun 45 sebelum masehi. BUku ini adalah risalah dari teori etika yang sangat terkenal pada masa Renaissance. Baris pertama dari Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", berasal dari sebuah baris di bagian 1.10.32.

Bagian standar dari teks Lorem Ipsum yang digunakan sejak tahun 1500an kini di reproduksi kembali di bawah ini untuk mereka yang tertarik. Bagian 1.10.32 dan 1.10.33 dari "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" karya Cicero juga di reproduksi persis seperti bentuk aslinya, diikuti oleh versi bahasa Inggris yang berasal dari terjemahan tahun 1914 oleh H. Rackham.

Dari mana saya bisa mendapatkannya?

Ada banyak variasi tulisan Lorem Ipsum yang tersedia, tapi kebanyakan sudah mengalami perubahan bentuk, entah karena unsur humor atau kalimat yang diacak hingga nampak sangat tidak masuk akal. Jika anda ingin menggunakan tulisan Lorem Ipsum, anda harus yakin tidak ada bagian yang memalukan yang tersembunyi di tengah naskah tersebut. Semua generator Lorem Ipsum di internet cenderung untuk mengulang bagian-bagian tertentu. Karena itu inilah generator pertama yang sebenarnya di internet. Ia menggunakan kamus perbendaharaan yang terdiri dari 200 kata Latin, yang digabung dengan banyak contoh struktur kalimat untuk menghasilkan Lorem Ipsun yang nampak masuk akal. Karena itu Lorem Ipsun yang dihasilkan akan selalu bebas dari pengulangan, unsur humor yang sengaja dimasukkan, kata yang tidak sesuai dengan karakteristiknya dan lain sebagainya.
